whew

Hi all, So I'm done with Peds Boards. . . which is an experience I'm hoping to not repeat. What a crazy test- 2 days long and definitely the hardest I've taken. As one of my friends noted, we pay $1500 to look at pictures of baby butts, rashes, and answer question after question regarding obscure genetic syndromes. Sheesh! :) I feel a huge weight lifted. This weekend I may do absolutely nothing. I might discover the neighborhood library. :) Val, sorry about Dave's car. So frustrating. I got the pics from your mom and they look great. Can't wait to see the ones from the secon wedding. Props for going through all of that twice. You're really really married now. Does that mean you get two honeymoons? :) Take care guys. I'm now officially done with formal medical education. . . even though we're all about learning in my job. ;) So, back to the real world and re-opening my mind to all that's out there.

Fall in the Northwest

I'm glad to hear from you guys again. I had checked it once or twice, but wasn't sure if people had given up on it. Fall has officially started in the NW, the forcast is rain and more rain!! The trees are very pretty colors though right now; the winds are so suppose to pick this weekend though.

The second wedding went off pretty well, except for Dave's car was broke into at the airport when we were there to pick up my parents. My sister and her husband had all of their stuff in the car too, because we had also just picked them up as well. The thieves took everything but the wedding dress (which in a perverse way was nice of them). I think we finally are close to having the insurance claims filed and replacing most of the things that were stolen.

I should have websites with pictures from the WI and OR wedding up by this weekend, so look for the link. There are some very nice pictures.

Thinking of all you guys.

Yeah Sanitation

Sorry for ignoring the blog...I had temporarily forgotten what my log-on was, due to the overwhelming confusion of having the google log-on be my yahoo email.
We have recently painted the deck; it turned out to be a much brighter orange color than appeared on the booklet, but it matches the leaf colors. It has been ridiculously hot here for October and because we a) don't have a sprinkler, b) haven't learned to obsess about the lawn, or c) weren't actually paying attention, we have managed to kill nearly all the lawn in a mere few weeks time. Fortunately though, we finally will be getting the new septic system installed in the next couple of weeks...hopefully.
Well, Good luck on Boards to Heidi and Happy Fall to the rest of you!

Second Wedding!!!

Well my second wedding is this weekend...I think I must be insane. This has grown as complicated as my last: dresses, tuxes, flowers, hair appointments, photographers, the whole thing all over again. Except now I am also trying to start a new school year as well. I will be so glad when this is all over. Wish me luck!

Magnets

Yeah! So happy that folks are posting. So I'm on service taking care of patients in the hospital this week and just heard follow up from a patient I took care of last time. She's a very mischevious 3 year old who came into the ER with belly pain and when I talked to her in the morning she smiled and whispered to me, "I ate my necklace." Sure enough, big fat metallic looking structure in her small bowel on xray. Well, usually these things "pass" :) on their own, but this one was pretty big. Not sure how she swallowed that sucker. She ended up having surgery to get them out b/c she was obstructed. I just talked to Mom and she said the surgical team took out one of those bracelets made of magnets that this little one had won at the county fair. Bet she's getting one long time out. Good thing is, she's all better. :) That's my fun story for the week so far. Hope all is well with everyone. Keep writing! :) Heidi

First day of school

So today was the first day of schoo and I am absolutely exhausted! I taught all day today, with only a 25 minute break for lunch - 3 chemistries in a row! Tommorrow I have my plan period, one AP Environmental, and one more Chemistry. The kids seem pretty good so far, but they were really quite and scared silly still today. Next week will be the real test when I see who they really are. I have 151 students in this year, which is just ridiculous. I don't know how I am going to remember all of their names. Right now it is just a sea of faces!

Take care.

So, I've been meaning to write ever since Heidi sent her email about the blog. Heidi, I think that this is a great idea. And I really enjoyed seeing you all at Val and Dave's wedding - you two had a really nice wedding. Deepthi, I'm sorry to hear about the car. :-(

Not much is really new here in California. I've just been working and fixing up our yard. I spent last weekend moving dirt and filling in trenches. Ahh, the joys of home ownership...

I hope you all have good holiday weekends. I look forward to hearing about all your lives on our new blog.

Definately a great idea

It was so great to see you all on my wedding! I wish I could have spent more time with you all. Heidi your pictures are so good, I wish I was in them. The one my mom took of all of us has a big white spot on my forehead.

This blogging thing is all very new and confusing to me too. As Deepthi said, I hope this posts. Ironically though, I have just spent the last 2 days sitting through meetings about how teachers have to get better at adapting to technology or else we will become obsolete! Since I still don't know how to text message with my phone I guess this is blog is a good first step!

The kids start on Tuesday and my classroom is a disaster zone and I have no lesson plans. It should be an interesting next couple of days!

Brilliant! While I still don't know what exactly a blog is, I feel like I'm joining the 21st century. Thanks Heidi for coming up with this, and thanks Val for having a wonderful wedding for us to hang out at! As for exciting news...I killed the Hyundai Accent. Who knew that when the check engine light starts flickering, you should pull over, like, now. So, we're going to get a new car, and James is slowly inching us towards an almost SUV, boo. Well, I'm going to try to post this I guess, somehow. Take care all!

A New Idea

Hi my friends,
After a great time visiting together at Val and Dave's wedding this weekend, the realization that there are no more weddings to be had between us, and an astute observation by Jeff that we all like to plan, but given differences in time zone and crazy schedules, tend to have trouble calling. . . a fault of which I am quite guilty, I was left feeling a bit nostalgic and with a desire to find a way to "see" you all more often. So, here's an idea. We can see what happens. Post whatever you like, whenever you like, and it will go to the "Ms Madtown Musings" group of Val, Deepthi, Margot, Amy, and Heidi. If you have a brighter idea for a title let me know. I hope to see wedding pics, travel logs, pregnancy updates (AMY!), work woes and wonders, whatever. I miss you guys from way out here in CA. Maybe, just maybe this can help us create future "events" to help stay in touch. So, I'll start it off with a pic from Val's great wedding on Saturday. I especially enjoyed seeing Val and Dave so happy, the slide show, our own picture follies, and learning of Amy's fun news. And yes, my Locomotion injury is healing nicely. We'll always have Winneconne. :) I love that name.
